The Welcoming Prayer is a method of consenting to God’s presence and action in our physical and emotional reactions to events and situations in daily life.
Please RSVP using the ticket button. Registration is free. Suggested donation $20. Suggested welcoming prayer booklet can be mailed to you for $20. Email adam@contemplatelincoln.org to request a brochure.
In our time together we will cover the mechanics of the prayer, Thomas Keating’s teachings on divine healing, and spend time in sacred community. This workshop is as much restorative as it is informational.
The purpose of the Welcoming Prayer is to deepen our relationship with God through consenting in the ordinary activities of our day. The Welcoming Prayer helps to dismantle the emotional programs of the false-self system and to heal the wounds of a lifetime by addressing them where they are stored — in the body. It contributes to the process of transformation in Christ initiated in Centering Prayer.
Presented by Patty Forsberg a spiritual director, retreat leader at Contemplate Lincoln and certified presenter of Centering Prayer and Welcoming Prayer by Contemplative Outreach. She is also a presenter for Boundless Compassion and the Enneagram. Since the start of this time of pandemic and quarantine, she has found herself participating and facilitating groups for connection, spiritual direction and spiritual practices.
